Support

TagVault by Fish & Media Ltd

Email support [at] fishandmedia [dot] com with your iPhone model, iOS version, the tag type (for example NTAG215) and what happened.

Never send your secret, your passphrase, or a copy of the tag's contents. We do not need them to help you. We cannot decrypt a record, and we cannot recover a lost passphrase. Nobody can.

Common questions

I forgot my passphrase.

The record cannot be decrypted without it. There is no reset or recovery service; this is how the encryption is designed to work. Use your independent backup copy.

The app says the tag is too small.

The app checks the space the tag reports before writing. Try a shorter secret or a larger tag (NTAG215 or NTAG216).

The app wants to overwrite my tag.

The tag already holds data. The app asks before replacing it. Use a blank or disposable tag if you are unsure what is on it.

Can I read a TagVault tag without the app?

Yes. The format is published, with an offline recovery script. See Record format & recovery.

Which tags work?

NTAG213, NTAG215, NTAG216 and other NDEF-compatible ISO 14443 tags. An iPhone with NFC is required.

Security issues

If you think you have found a security problem in the app or the record format, email support [at] fishandmedia [dot] com with "Security" in the subject. Please do not include real secrets in a report.
